One of the toughest tour climbs.  In the 2000 tour the mountain was climbed from the south which is the most common route.  The 2000 Giro d'Italia also climbed the I'zoard.  Both stages finished at the end of the fast descent into Briancon.

The climb is about 30k (18 miles) from Guillestre with the main part of the climb starting in the town of  Arvieux (11k from the summit and pictured above).
