Today was our first stop for the
Individual Time Trial in Metz. Metz is on the Moselle River and is
one of the principle cities of the Lorraine region. We watched
most of the time trial on the cat-3 Côte de
Gravelotte. American Bobby Julich crashed out of the race a
few kilometers on the downhill after passing us. Lance Armstrong won
the stage and put on the yellow jersey which he would wear all the way to
Paris. After watching the stage our group rode to our hotel in
Nancy, about 36k south of Metz.
