2003 New Years Day Ride
Approximately 900 riders on PCH through Huntington Beach. The ride started at the Long Beach Marina at 0800. We joined up in Huntington Beach (PCH / Brookhurst) which was about 12 miles into the ride for those starting in Long Beach. There was a Santa Ana wind blowing when we were entering Irvine. This caused an echelon to form and took up all three lanes of Irvine Blvd. I only saw one crash and it was on the steep 15% curving decent into Dana Point. About 150 riders stayed together for the inland portion.
