The '06 ride had one of the smaller turnouts I have seen. I estimate about 250 to 300 riders this year. It could be due to the wet roads at the start since this ride does have a reputation for crashes. However this years ride was pretty safe.
There was a slight route change in Mission Viejo. Instead of turning left on Trabuco, we continued up to the top of Marguerite to Portola. After that, a left on Lake Forest to the 2nd regroup at Trabuco/Lake Forest. This detour added a hill which split up a lot of the pack.
