Thursday July 17th
We left our hotel in Arles and headed for Revel which was 51k from the finish. On the way we drove past the walled medieval city of Carcassonne (we stayed there in 2001). The ride from Revel to Toulouse was hot and over rolling terrain. The finish was on the outskirts of the city on an airfield. Apparently the inner city was not in shape for a finish due to subway construction. Toulouse is fourth largest city in France. It was quite difficult to find out hotel after the finish as we made our way on bikes through the maze of streets.
