Tuesday June 15th - Bätterkinden

We left the hotel in Neuchâtel and drove about 65 km to the Stage 4 finishing town of Bätterkinden. We parked near the finish-line of this very small town. We headed out on the bike and rode the 30 km finishing circuit. It included a very steep Cat-4 climb 5.6 km from the finish. We thought a rider like Paolo Bettini would break away on this hill. He tried, but was caught. We rode another 20 km then settled in to watch the finish. Aussie Robbie McEwen won the stage after Fassa Bortolo's Francesco Chicchi raised his arms thinking he had won. After watching the finish, we drove 80 km to Interlaken where we would spend three nights.
